Inova Loudoun Hospital recently unveiled a brand new Labor and Delivery Unit, Postpartum Care Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Located in our new North Patient Tower, these advanced facilities will allow us to continue to deliver exceptional birth experiences for years to come.

When delivering at Inova Loudoun Hospital, you can expect an intimate, family-centered birth experience. Mothers and babies receive individualized attention and benefit from the most advanced technology available. Facility highlights include:

• 24/7 OB Emergency Department (OBED) for expectant mothers 20 weeks and beyond with OB-related complaints such as abdominal pain or bleeding
• 12 spa-like labor-delivery-recovery suites with labor soaking tubs and light therapy to enhance relaxation
• Wireless waterproof fetal monitors
• Private postpartum rooms
• Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) featuring private rooms with overnight accommodations with transfer access to Inova Children's Hospital Level IV NICU for micropremies or severely ill newborns
• 3 cesarean-section suites
• Antepartum rooms for women with high-risk pregnancies requiring inpatient care before delivery
• 24/7 OB Emergency Room for expectant mothers 20 weeks and beyond with OB-related complaints
• 24/7 in-house anesthesiology
• 24/7 access to OB-GYN doctors, certified nurse-midwives and neonatologists
• Supportive of physiologic, natural and unmedicated births
• Board-certified lactation consultants and lactation center

Additional amenities include: complimentary valet services, free WiFi high speed internet access, and access to a professional photographer. All rooms in the North Tower are equipped with Bluetooth wireless speakers and other high-tech amenities.

The Inova Loudoun Hospital Antenatal Testing Center (ATC) offers specialized care and comprehensive diagnostic testing for women throughout their pregnancy.

Our maternal fetal medicine specialists, perinatal sonographers and nurses have cared for thousands of expectant mothers and regularly work with women whose pregnancies are considered high-risk.

Factors which may cause a woman’s pregnancy to be considered high risk include:

• Pre-existing conditions such as diabetes or hypertension
• Women over the age of 35
• Women with multiple pregnancies
• Women who experience unexpected complications caused by pregnancy
• Parents who may pass on a genetic disorder

All parking is free at Inova Loudoun Hospital for patients and visitors. For nearest parking and access to the North Tower, please park in the Parking Garage or the North Parking Lot directly in front of the building. If you choose to park in the garage, the pedestrian bridge on the third level provides direct access into the building. Once inside, take the elevators to the ground level and proceed to the lobby.

9 p.m. – 5 a.m., Every Day and Weekend Arrivals: 

For patient safety, the North Tower main entrance will be locked nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. If you are arriving between these hours, you may still enter at the North Entrance. Please call Labor and Delivery upon arrival at 703-858-6340. If you are in considerable pain and threatening to deliver imminently do not use this entrance, go directly to the Emergency Room entrance.

While all families have high expectations of a healthy, full-term infant, a deviation from the expected path can sometimes occur. Approximately nine percent of infants in Virginia are born prematurely (< 38 weeks) and others have physical problems that require specialized care.

Our NICU provides around-the-clock observation and care for premature and sick infants as young as 28 weeks.

Inova Cares Clinic for Women - Lansdowne offers obstetric (pregnancy and childbirth) care for women who are uninsured, have limited resources, or are insured by Medicaid.

Additionally, this team of OB-GYN and certified nurse midwife hospitalists are on-site 24/7. They have collectively delivered more than 1,400 babies for unassigned and private-practice patients at Inova Loudoun Hospital.
