Specialized, customized care for your needs

Our goal is the same as yours – to rid you of the symptoms of your condition. We accomplish this through the latest targeted medication to enhance your natural neurochemistry, combined with disease-specific physical, occupational and speech therapy. If medications are not effective, the specialists at Inova are uniquely trained to use deep brain stimulation (DBS), intestinal gel and targeted botulinum injections to improve your quality of life.

Our multidisciplinary team of neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuropsychiatrists, neurophysiologists, and physical, occupational and speech therapists have dedicated their careers to understanding and treating:

Cutting-edge treatments

In addition to a comprehensive plan of medical management and therapy for your condition, we offer the latest treatments for symptom relief, including:

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)

Improving symptoms of Parkinson's disease, essential tremor and dystonia

Improving symptoms of Parkinson's disease, essential tremor and dystonia for qualified patients is helped with DBS, which is a therapy that is like a pacemaker for the brain. The tiny device is implanted by Inova's specialized neurosurgeons and then programmed by our movement disorders specialists. The device delivers a carefully controlled stimulation of electricity to precisely targeted areas. The electric stimulation interrupts the brain's faulty signals and provides measurable relief to symptoms, allowing for a significant reduction in medications and an improvement in quality of life.

Remote Neuromodulation of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)

Patients who are qualified and have successfully completed a DBS procedure can now receive remote neuromodulation care virtually by telemedicine. Our providers can now prescribe treatment settings and ensure a proper response and device functionality in real-time and remotely for those patients where travel to an inpatient clinic setting is difficult.

The Inova Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center is among the first in the U.S. to offer this service to patients.
