Application process

• Completed application form
• Application fee
  • $50 Check or Money Order – payable to Inova Fairfax Hospital Medical Laboratory Science Program
  • Pay online using our payment portal
• Official transcripts from each college / university attended
  • Applicants who completed their education outside the U.S. must have their educational transcripts evaluated for U.S. equivalency by an accredited credential evaluation service company prior to submission. (Credential Evaluation Service Companies)
  • Official transcripts paper copies must be sealed and sent directly from the school or credential evaluation company to the program’s mailing address
  • Electronic transcripts must be sent directly from the transcript service to the Program Supervisor
• Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
  • References may be from current or previous faculty, employer, or individual familiar with the applicant’s character.
  • Recommendation letters written in a standard format may be mailed directly from the reference source to the program’s mailing address OR emailed as a pdf attachment directly from the source to the Program Supervisor.  
  • Electronic transcripts must be sent directly from the transcript service to the Program Supervisor
• Students working toward a degree in MLS (3+1 Applicants)
  • Request a Verification Letter or Statement of Eligibility from your department head stating that MLS prerequisites will be completed upon entry into the clinical program and that the student will be eligible for a baccalaureate degree at the end of this program.
  • Mail directly to the program’s address or email directly as a pdf attachment the Program Supervisor 

Employment requirements 

Students accepted into Inova’s MLS program are considered employees of Inova Health. 

Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. The federal government requires a form of identification proving eligibility to work in the United States. Some acceptable forms of documentation include Social Security account number or unexpired Permanent Resident card. 

Conditional admission 
Failure to complete Inova’s employment process or the prerequisite coursework (submission of an official transcript) at least one month prior to the program start date will result in revocation of conditional admission, requiring reapplication in the next cycle.
