About Tara Iyengar, MD

Dr. Tara Iyengar is a board-certified pediatric and fetal cardiologist. She joined Inova in 2025 and has been practicing since 2017.

Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Iyengar completed a pediatric cardiology advanced imaging fellowship at Advocate Children’s Hospital, where she further specialized in noninvasive imaging, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and fetal echocardiography. She is passionate about delivering informed, empathetic care and has a particular interest in improving patient access and education.

Dr. Iyengar earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency and chief residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, followed by a pediatric cardiology fellowship at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Chicago, IL.

A native of the DMV area, Dr. Iyengar enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new restaurants, and traveling.
