About Pamela Brandt, DO

Dr. Pamela Brandt is a specialty care physician board certified in internal medicine. She joined Inova Health System in 2021 and has been practicing since 2012.

Dr. Brandt attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA, for her undergraduate degree and Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ, for her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine.

After completing her residency at Reading Hospital and Medical Center in West Reading, PA, Dr. Brandt practiced primary care and developed an interest in diseases such as prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. She has found that treating obesity is the key to treating metabolic diseases. This background allows her to integrate treatment with a focus on a patient’s overall health.

Dr. Brandt enjoys working with patients who are ready to focus on changing their lifestyles in an effort to improve their long-term health and functional lifespan. She hopes to inform patients in a way that enables them to feel empowered and make choices that they feel are right for their particular situation and goals. Her aim is to make patients to feel respected and seen, and she doesn’t want her patients to feel uncomfortable in a healthcare setting.

Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Brandt worked for five years as an obesity medicine physician with Tower Health Weight Management Center in West Reading, PA. She has been a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine since 2015 and continues to pursue further education regarding healthy lifestyle. She has completed training as an instructor for the Diabetes Prevention Program. She has also completed the Nutrition Network’s professional training in low-carb/ketogenic nutrition and treatment, as well as a personal training certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Currently, she is working on her certification in culinary medicine.

Outside of work, Dr. Brandt loves to cook and enjoys finding fresh and local produce to develop recipes. She tries to grow her own food as much as she can and believes that it’s important to teach her kids where their food comes from and give them a hand in creating it. Dr. Brandt enjoys running and typically participates in races throughout the year to keep herself motivated to train (although she will never win). She has also taken an interest in resistance training. Most of all, Dr. Brandt loves to spend time with her family and read historical fiction while sitting outside on her deck. She and her family also enjoy taking trips to go camping and to visit friends.
