Dr. Lily Nedda Dastmalchi is a cardiologist board certified in cardiovascular disease, echocardiography and internal medicine. She joined Inova in 2024 and has been practicing since 2018.
Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Dastmalchi was a cardiology fellow at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Dastmalchi aims to provide a holistic approach to cardiovascular care. Her clinical interests are in preventive cardiology, which includes nutrition education, cholesterol management, hypertension, interpreting and managing calcium scores, and cardiometabolic health. She is part of the women’s cardiovascular health section of the cardiology group and leads the menopause program at Inova, which includes a multidisciplinary team composed of specialists to provide individualized care during this transitional period in a woman’s life. She is also involved in managing the risk of heart disease following the diagnosis of gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, preeclampsia and postpartum cardiomyopathy.
Dr. Dastmalchi believes patient autonomy is key and believes patients should be able to lead their healthcare management. She strives to educate patients and help guide them to optimize their health and reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Dastmalchi uses evidence-based medicine to implement a holistic plan to help patients reach their health goals. She assesses their lifestyle, which includes eating, sleeping, exercise patterns and habits that affect their cardiovascular health. She understands how cumbersome lifestyle change can be, so she works with patients to find a realistic approach to lifestyle and pharmacological treatment, when indicated. Dr. Dastmalchi wants patients to feel comfortable with the plan she and her patients create together and feel confident in their cardiovascular health.
