Holiday Hours

With the exception of Inova hospitals, Inova Emergency Care and Inova-GoHealth Urgent Care, all Inova outpatient offices will be closed for the Christmas and New Year's Day holidays – Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1.

Some Inova care sites have additional closures for the holidays, which will be noted on the relevant location pages.

About Kirsten K. Edmiston, MD

Dr. Kirsten Edmiston is a fellowship-trained breast oncology surgeon. She joined Inova Fairfax Medical Center’s medical staff in 1997.

Academically, Dr. Edmiston is an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Inova campus, teaching students and residents. She has a master’s in population health and a graduate certificate in healthcare quality/safety management from Thomas Jefferson University. She is a successful breast surgeon focused on the multidisciplinary management of patients with benign and malignant breast disease. She enjoys partnering with patients and families to overcome the challenges of breast cancer.

Within Inova, Dr. Edmiston has served in multiple leadership roles in surgical quality care and safety; she currently serves as the Chief Surgical Quality Officer for the health system. Dr. Edmiston has extensive experience leading interdisciplinary teams for coordinated care delivery and working with colleagues across Inova in surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, OB-GYN, primary care, etc. She is most proud of leading Inova to become Quality Verified by the American College of Surgeons for all five hospitals. She also speaks nationally about the drive to improve surgical care and quality. She currently serves as the surgeon champion for the American College of Surgeons’ National Surgical Quality Improvement Program.

Fundamentally, Dr. Edmiston is dedicated to the safe delivery of surgical care for every patient, every touch, in a culture of excellence, strong communication and psychological safety.
