About Amit K. Mahajan, MD

Dr. Amit Mahajan is the Medical Director of interventional pulmonology at Inova Health System. He is board certified in interventional pulmonology, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine. Dr. Mahajan completed his interventional pulmonology fellowship at Harvard Hospital System’s Interventional Pulmonology Program.

Dr. Mahajan’s areas of expertise include procedures for diagnosing lung cancer, treating cancers within the airways, management of airway complications following lung transplantation, and bronchoscopic lung volume reduction (BLVR) for patients with severe emphysema. Additionally, Dr. Mahajan oversees Inova’s incidental lung nodule program and lung cancer screening program.

Dr. Mahajan is nationally recognized as a leader in interventional pulmonology and has served on the board of directors for the American Association of Bronchoscopy and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP) and the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC). He has also been recognized as a Top Doctor for Washingtonian Magazine.

Dr. Mahajan is a native of Toledo, OH, and currently resides in Vienna, VA, with his wife and three children.
