Please Complete the Volunteer Application Form

After review of your application, the Volunteer Services Department will notify you by email regarding the second step of the application process.

This application and onboarding process consists of several steps, including screenings and training sessions, to ensure that volunteering at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital will be a good fit for you and for the hospital. This process is also to ensure that you meet the HIPAA and compliance regulations as a hospital volunteer. Inova Mount Vernon Hospital's onboarding process takes approximately four to six weeks.

You will only move to the next step of the process if you have successfully cleared the previous step. If you decide through this process that for any reason volunteering at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is not a good fit for you, you may opt-out of the onboarding process by notifying the volunteer manager.

Requirements to Become a Volunteer

  • Commit to one, 3-4 hour shift per week for a minimum of 6 months
  • Be at least 18 years of age (for involvement in the College and Adult programs)
  • Complete and pass a background check
  • Complete two rounds of tuberculosis screening OR one tuberculosis blood test
  • Provide confirmation of receiving the MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella (Chickenpox), Tdap for Pertussis (Whooping Cough) vaccines OR proof of immunity via titer
  • Receive a flu vaccine (if onboarding during flu season)
  • Take online training
  • Attend new volunteer orientation
